Lately I’ve been researching different batting techniques –after all, the best composite bat won’t produce a homerun by itself.

I do know that I am doing a few things bad. For example, I was using one of those donuts to warm up before my turn at bat. Well, guess what? I started noticing that this was slowing me down when trying to hit the ball. It was as if I was “tired” by the time I got to bat. I know, I know, it does not sound logical (after all, we see the pros doing this just before coming at bat), but that is not the case for a not-pro guy like me.

Also, about the batting technique and the motion when at-bat, I will start taking my video camera to the game and ask a friend to tape me, so I can review my swing when I get home.

If you know of a good program (DVD, book, etc) that has some tips or techniques to improve and be a better Baseball hitter, please mention it in the comments.

Well, it is clear the controversy about Composite Bat is not going away. I found this new article by Jon Solomon at the Birmingham News titled Fair or foul? Are players tampering with composite bats? where the author comments a little bit about Composite Bats and mentions that the problem is rolling the bats. So, it seems the composite bats are not an issue by themselves, but rolling them does cause a problem by breaking the rules.

In another topic, I can report that we enjoyed great weather in the area and finally was able to play two days last week. A teammate got one like this: DeMarini Juggernaut OTC Softball Bat USSSA – Men’s ( sz. 27 ) and I can report that it was great. Great weight and hit a home run with it. Felt good!

Great weather this weekend, finally temperature in the 60′s and I again saw people playing ball and the fields having some action.

I was missing the sounds of the bats hitting the balls…

Earlier this week a newspaper published a letter about cheating in softball. In that letter, the author mentions different ways to cheat the game, many of them I never even imagined would happen in non-professional leagues.

One of the techniques that is classified as cheating is to have your bat rolled. Based on the limited amount of knowledge I have about this, I thought it was OK, it was just making sure your composite bat was performing at its top sooner, but I did not see it as cheating.

I was checking my Google Analytics statistics for this site (and not that I really check them that much any way, this blog is just a hobbie) and noticed a lot of interest on Bat Rolling Machines. Actually, the term Bat Rolling Machine got almost half of the visits to this blog from search engines in the last month.

I had no clue this was that popular, just another proof of how little I know about the industry behind my hobbie of just hitting balls and run to safe.

Do you guys own one of these machines? or just pay for the service, as others noted in the comments from a previous post?

Today we had 59 degrees here and the first thing I though of was, When is my baseball season gonna get started again? I’m missing the feeling of hitting the ball with my composite bat!

Although, I have to recognize, probably the baseball or softball ball would disappear in the snow !

In any case, I am thinking of getting a new bat for this season. What do you guys recommend?

I just discovered there are Bat Rolling Machines!!!

So, it is not enough to buy a good bat, now I also should buy the rolling machine so I can save money.

What do you think about this?

Now this is a service that I did not have a clue even existed, and had never occured to me. Very clever.

My only concern is to make sure that this process does not ruin my bat. There is a reason my I’m willing to pay good money for a high-performance composite bat, so having it destroyed by taking this shortcut is not one of my priorities.

In general, I prefer the summer and just plainly hate winter. The days are too short and the weather does not allow me to play any sports.

I miss going out to the field and hit the baseball with the bat. I miss the games. Don’t you feel the same way?

A few friends of mine live in the Phoenix area and they are still playing, enjoying the nice weather. I’m so jealous right now!!!
